Houston? no problem...

Chapel Choir Tour often strikes a balance between the expected and unexpected.  This morning, we expected to make a similar waffle, similar orange juice from that machine that makes you wonder just where does that OJ come from and why does that machine make that noise, and a similar cereal dispensing machine that always has plenty of Raisin Bran and not quite enough Fruit Loops.  Not long after we got on the road headed for the Lone Star state, we stopped unexpectedly on one of those flat, mile long, 6 feet off the water, bridges over what looked like a swamp or bayou.  As the ambulance and rescue trucks zipped past us on the emergency lane, Ms. Emily encouraged us to pray for safety and well-being for all our fellow travelers on the road and especially for those whose journey may have experienced unexpected challenges this day.  Our silent prayers eventually gave way to the expected chatter of tour bus travel and the drone of the tour bus tires on the road again.

Houston Health Museum – for the curious minds of the chapel choir, this one was a no brainer!  Our crew dispensed a fair amount of energy in this highly interactive science learning center.  Just a few of the activities included a screaming booth (we got lungpower in the Chapel Choir), a Texas-sized, 10-foot-tall walk-through brain with memory games, a 20 foot long colon which encouraged all sorts of movement (giggle), a skeleton riding a bicycle, a walk-in eyeball (more on eyes later!) that demonstrates how your eye receives and perceives images, a Calorie Crank conveying how many calories you must burn for specific foods you eat, a Giant Human Heart wheel with biometric systems that check your heart rate while running or walking, and a few jump, stretch and hang activities.

The eyes have it… or the cow’s eye has it… Vickie, the Museum’s science educator, took some pleasure in dissecting a cow’s eye to explain, and squish, and squeeze, and scalpel the cornea, lens, all sorts of parts and fluids whose technical names shall remain nameless… it might be better if you take a gander at the photos to get a sense of what we saw and how we experienced the detailed dissection dialogue!

The hospitality and grace of the Woodlands Community Presbyterian Church provided us pizza for our bellies and a glimpse into their inclusive community.  Pastor Dave welcomed us and shared about one of the many ministries they do – Family Promise, a program that provides housing and sustenance to persons challenged by homelessness – which opened our eyes to yet another way to show God’s love.

An enthusiastic crowd showed wholehearted appreciation for a wonderful Chapel Choir performance of Awakening --- especially great to be with some family again tonight --- cousins from Texas!  Apologies for no video of tonight’s concert – unexpectedly, we had a rookie photographer #yourstruly #olddognewtricks  #tourlyfe.

I have never travelled by southern coaches but I have heard about the services which are really admirable. Houston is probably a group that entertain the passengers I guess but I am not sure about it.

Off road tires are designed for terrain that is more difficult to manage. As a result of this the patterns that are on the treading, are more like individual projections. Something like studs. These patterns help the vehicle to remain manageable in terrain that is muddy or rocky, conditions that are not regular road conditions. These individual notches allow the tire to grip into the terrain, whether it is mud, or otherwise and this helps the driver to maintain control of the vehicle and it prevents the vehicle from getting stuck, especially when it comes to the muddier terrains. When used on asphalt, off road tires will wear down very quickly. This is due to the fact that they have much less contact area to the surface,
