An early departure from our 5 star hotel in Austin (5 star means oatmeal not in a packet) allowed us to have a full day in the Texas hill country. Six performances in 5 days has earned us a couple days of Texas sized fun days!
Our first stop took us to the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch where we used our bus to meander through 450 acres of rolling hills, creek beds, and live oak trees to witness animals such as giraffe, bison, llamas (or alpacas, or both, not quite sure), about 20 types of African deer, and also ostriches and emus -- just a few of the native and endangered animal species in the Wildlife Ranch.
After lunch we enjoyed a relaxing hike through Natural Bridge Caverns which treated us to a half-mile of guided cavern tour with formations centuries in the making such as stalagmites, stalactites, flowstones, chandeliers and soda straws. This adventure had our Eagle Scouts tingling in anticipation!
Our day capped off with a fancy dinner (think not a pizza box) on the Riverwalk of San Antonio. Our group cleans up pretty nicely and enjoyed a pre-dinner stroll in the warm Texas evening air. Dinner choices ranged from tex-mex to Italian bistro depending on where the particular small group decided to go.
We just might also nickname our night on the Riverwalk – family night. Please enjoy the sibling or family pics!
Tomorrow is a slip, slap, slop day for us as we are VERY excited for our trip to Schlitterbahn Water Park where we will slip on protective clothing, slap on a hat, or slop on plenty of sun screen and enjoy a day in the water and sun! #tourlyfe
